About the event
Cloud Dancer is Pantone’s "Colour of the Year" for 2026. A “calming influence” symbolizing serenity and simplicity. This Exploration is an opportunity to explore novel and simple approaches to high-key imagery. Any subject can be used but the major challenge is to leverage tonal values, overall just less than pure while.
The example images below illustrate high-key photography that creates bright, airy, and low-contrast images. They use bright, even lighting and a light-toned background, minimizing or eliminating strong shadows. Bright, “flat” lighting creates a positive, peaceful or even ethereal mood. Be creative and enjoy!
Explorations challenge you to try something new. They are an opportunity to drive your creativity and experiment with alternative and novel solutions and to expand your portfolio of skills and approaches.
